Hearings, Briefings, Meetings

February 27 - Dr. Nora Volkow participated in a Congressional briefing titled “Opportunities and Challenges in Cannabinoid Research” hosted by the Friends of NIDA and the Congressional Addiction Treatment and Recovery Caucus.

April 2, 2019 - Dr. Volkow joined NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins and other NIH Institute and Center Directors to testify before the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS) Appropriations Subcommittee on the FY 2020 NIH budget.

April 12, 2019 - Dr. Volkow joined Dr. Collins and other NIH IC Directors to testify before the Senate LHHS Appropriations Subcommittee on the FY 2020 NIH budget.

April 23-24 - Dr. Volkow joined Dr. Collins in meeting with Representatives Hal Rogers, Susan Brooks, William Lacy Clay, and Buddy Carter during the 2019 National Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit in Atlanta, GA.

Legislation of Interest

The House LHHS Appropriations Subcommittee marked up the FY 2020 Labor HHS funding bill on April 30, and the full House Appropriations Committee approved the bill on May 8.
