Director, Office of Extramural Policy

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is committed to advancing the science on drug use and addiction and applying that knowledge to improve individual and public health. To achieve this goal, the Division of Extramural Research (DER) within NIDA provides management and oversight on the development, implementation, and coordination of NIDA’s extramural programs, policies, reviews, and operations planning. DER is seeking exceptional candidates for multiple positions, including:

Director, Office of Extramural Policy | GS 15 Supervisory (HSA PO or SRO)

The Office of Extramural Policy manages critical functions for NIDA and serves as the primary source of NIH policy knowledge and implementation for the Institute. In addition to the policy responsibilities, OEP coordinates NIDA’s Council activities, operations planning, initiative development, FOA lifecycle including publication and tracking, extramural policy staff training, committee management, receipt and referral, and research integrity concerns. The OEP Director works with DER leadership and senior NIDA staff on the implementation of extramural policies; serves on NIH wide committees related to extramural policy; and maintains relationships with various high-level NIH OER staff in order to quickly obtain clarification and advice on new policies as well as assistance with urgent matters. In addition, the Director supervises a team of 6-7 people (GS 11-14) and provides mentorship and guidance throughout the Institute.
