The Division of Therapeutics and Medical Consequences (DTMC) is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill a Health Scientist Administrator (HSA) position specializing in Toxicology and Safety Pharmacology. The DTMC Plans and directs studies necessary to identify, evaluate, develop, and obtain FDA approval for new medications and devices to treat Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and related medical and psychiatric conditions. The Toxicology Program within the DTMC supports standard preclinical Good Laboratory Practice toxicology and safety studies and specialized drug-drug interaction studies required for Investigational New Drug Applications and New Drug Application filings with the Food and Drug Administration in which the safety of potential medications alone and in the presence of drugs of abuse are established.
Job Description:
The HSA would be responsible for planning and implementing our comprehensive Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling Toxicology Program for potential medications to treat substance use disorders as a Contracting Officer Representative on various contracts. The HSA would also serve as Program Official and/or Project Scientist on related grants and cooperative agreements assigned to the Division and would participate in multidisciplinary drug development teams.

Ideal Candidate:
Applicants must have a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., or equivalent) in biomedical sciences and have an exceptional record of previous research accomplishments in the field of toxicology or a related field. Specialized experience in medications development for substance use disorders preferred.
