Description of Requirement:
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is a part of the NIH, with a mission to catalyze the generation of innovative methods and technologies that will enhance the development, testing, and implementation of diagnostics and therapeutics across a wide range of human diseases and conditions. A significant emphasis of NCATS is the rapid development of effective therapies for patients diagnosed with these conditions. This request is to extend a service contract for preventive maintenance and support of two Mantis instruments (S/N's 0838 and 0409), which are used on site at the National Center for Advancing Translational Science (NCATS). The Mantis dispenser is a liquid handler capable of handling extremely small volumes of liquid, which helps conserve valuable samples. The Mantis dispenser has an extremely low dead volume of 6 ul and minimum dispensing volume of 100 nl. When outfitted with a large capacity chip changer, the Mantis can handle up to 24 chips, allowing for multiplexing of reagents, which is invaluable for drug combination studies. These liquid handlers are utilized continuously and keeping them current and in optimal functioning order is essential, as downtime can be very costly. Having a service agreement in place will improve efficiency and productivity by saving us considerable time and resources and ensuring timely responses, and as such is highly beneficial to the government. Due to the complex nature of the instruments, only factory-certified Formulatrix technicians are authorized to provide service per the specific requirements of the attached STATEMENT OF WORK.
