Background and Requirement

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common malignant primary brain tumor. It remains incurable despite aggressive, multimodal therapy with surgical resection followed by radiation and chemotherapy with temozolomide. Thus, the development of novel therapeutic strategies to treat them is critical. Focus/objective of our translational research is to identify and validate new therapeutic targets using preclinical in vivo and in vitro GBM models. All our research projects include experimental designs directed towards understanding the molecular and cellular analysis of human tissue samples and primary tumor cells. On day today basis, we probe different protein expressions in our research samples by doing Western Blot analysis. We do not have a blot or gel image capturing instrument that is sensitive enough to identify the critical proteins. We have a small imager which often does not serve our purpose. We need a blot or gel imager in order to effectively address our research questions involving western blot as a tool. Overall, the purpose is to develop therapeutics strategies for brain tumors through translational research.
