Single-Sole Source Determination
Only Molecular Devices is capable of providing the necessary 20X water immersion objective for the IXMC to pair with our pre-existing imager and associated robotic arm and automated incubator and be integrated in order to complete a stand-alone confocal bio imaging work station to support our neurobiology and neuropharmacology research studies. The upgrade must be compatible with the current ImageXpress Micro Laser Confocal Imager. Molecular Devices is the manufacturer of the existing system and the sole manufacturer of any system upgrade. No other company can provide the Molecular Devices 20x water immersion objective upgrade to the ImageXpress Micro laser confocal image that will be seamlessly integrated with the robotic arm and automated incubator to complete this confocal imaging work station.
Background/Description of Requirement

The Contractor shall provide the NINDS NTDU  with one (1)Molecular Devices 20x water immersion objective with  the following features:

This 20X water immersion objective upgrade to the existing Molecular Devices ImageXpress Micro Laser confocal (IXMC) will:

1. Offer signal increases of up to 4X compared to long range working distance air objectives which can help scientists see deeper into 3D and thick tissue samples at lower exposure times.

2. Increase penetration depths into samples, thereby allowing capture and quantitation of more cellular images and features

3. Improve z-resolution and spherical aberrations for greater resolution

4. Gain sharper, crisper images to facilitate quantitation of high content imaging

5. Access more data than ever before, resolving nuclei and cellular structures that can be quantified to demonstrate many aspects and parameters of neuronal

toxicity.

6. improve the geometric accuracy during acquisition and reduce light refraction for brighter intensity at lower exposure times.

The Contractor shall provide installation and any software that will centrally schedule and  control and the 20x objective and its function for imaging capabilities on the IXMC.

The Contractor shall provide on-site training on use of the equipment to the Government following installation. Training shall be for up to five (5) individuals over one (1) day period for duration of at least eight (8) or more hours. The Contractor shall provide an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) service technician to perform training.

Interested parties may identify in writing their interest and capability in response to this requirement. Responses to this notice shall contain sufficient information to establish the interested parties’ bona-fide capabilities for fulfilling the requirement and include: unit price, list price, shipping and handling costs, the delivery period after contract award, the prompt payment discount terms, the F.O.B. Point (Destination or Origin), the Dun & Bradstreet Number (DUNS), the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), and the certification of business size. All offerors must have an active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) www.sam.gov.

All responses must be received by closing date and must reference the announcement. Responses may be submitted electronically to the attention of the contract specialist. Fax responses will not be accepted.

All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency.
