this specific GABAAR subtype (i.e., α1β3γ2), ranging from $20,000 (e.g., SB Drug
Discovery) or higher. Charles River provided the cheapest option to obtain these cell
lines.
Upon request, up to two (2) replacement vials (total) of any cell line(s) purchased by
Customer will be provided to Customer at no charge, and any additional replacement
vials may be purchased for $500 per vial. Other companies have not provided us an
emergency option such as this.
The company has validated and provided information that the α1β3γ2 stable cell line
expresses well and works for electrophysiology experiments. In previous experiences,
transiently transfecting some GABAAR subunits leads to poor or no expression, this we
would like to purchase from a source that has already shown that they can express well.
Other companies have not been able to provide such data or are lacking the information.
A pdf of the data sheet titled “Human GABAA a1b3y2- HEK293” line will be attached.
These human GABAAR stable cell line will greatly aid in the electrophysiological, cellular and molecular biology, and drug screening assays that will be taking place in the near future. We are currently doing transient transfection of each of the three subunits (α1, β3, γ2), but would like greater control and more reliable expression of these plasmids through stable expression. The stable cell line will help increase consistency and reliability for all these experiments.
