Single-Sole Source Determination
The purpose of this acquisition is to procure Apple Mac Pro Tower and accessories to be used by Postdoc Fellows for computational research analyses and for presentation of scientific results. These desktops are built-to-order (BTO) to have higher computational power for higher capacity computational analysis and in order to maximize lifetime and support of future software. Internet searches resulted in 3 possible vendors that can fulfill this requirement. Of these CDW provided the lowest price technically acceptable quote as per IGCE.
Background/Description of Requirement

The purpose of this acquisition is to procure two desktops. These desktops will be used by postdoctoral research fellows to fulfill two primary goals:

 (1) computational research analyses, and

(2) presentation of scientific results. FRNU is seeking desktops with high computational power. These desktops are built-to-order (BTO) to have higher computational power and in order to maximize lifetime and support of future software.

The Functional and Restorative Neurosurgery Unit (FRNU) exploits the unique investigative opportunities provided by intracranial electrical recordings during neurosurgical procedures. Using recordings captured from epilepsy patients implanted with subdural and depth electrodes, we investigate the activation of cortical networks during memory encoding and recall, and using the recordings captured during the implantation of deep brain stimulators, we investigate the role of the basal ganglia in learning and decision making.
