Single-Sole Source Determination
Market research was performed by searching competitors websites including iBiochips, Takara, and UCDavis Research Center. Pricing is fair and reasonable between all vendors and 10X Genomics. We require 10X Genomics products to ensure continuity of our ongoing research projects.

The essential characteristic of the Chromium cell kits with accompanying reagents that limit the availability to a sole source is the integration of the experimental data into ongoing research projects that have already obtained data from a collaborator’s 10X Genomics Chromium Controller. Only this suggested source can furnish the requirements, to the exclusion of other sources, because these proprietary equipment and reagents are sold only by one vendor.

The material or service must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with existing data. The current data has been obtained from a 10X Genomics Chromium Controller, and the new data must coordinate, connect, or interface with the existing data because the data is solely produced by 10X Genomics and the key components are patented and designed to operate as an integrated system. No third-party systems or components are licensed for use on the 10X Genomics Chromium cell kits
Background/Description of Requirement

This acquisition is necessary to provide supplies and reagents to the Laboratory of Neurogenetics for neurodegenerative disease research for gene expression analysis.

It has been propose to create a national resource of isogenic sets of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias mutation iPSC lines, complimented by foundational phenotypic datasets from differentiated disease-relevant cells derived from these lines. This resource will substantially accelerate the pace of mechanistic discovery regarding how Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia mutations cause disease.
