The Millipore is required on a sole source basis as it is replacing existing system and Program Area needs to order same system to ensure consistency in experiments that are run using water from the system. The program also requires a secondary unit to convert tap water into clean RO water. This is necessary because the building RO water supply is compromised by elevated resistivity and elevated particulate levels. It’s imperative that the lab have pure water consistently to ensure the quality of its cultures and crystallography research.
The Receptor Biology Section (RBS) led by Dr. Katherine Roche characterizes the molecular mechanisms underlying neurotransmitter receptor transport and localization at the synapse. Millipore is required as it is replacing a system currently in use in the lab and the Program needs to order the same system to ensure consistency in experiments that are run using water from this system. This is necessary because the building RO water supply is compromised by elevated resistivity and elevated particulate levels. It’s imperative that the lab have pure water to insure the quality of its cultures.
