Background/Description of Requirement

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and conducts research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of neurological disorders and stroke. The Neurosurgical Oncology Unit and Neurosurgery Unit for Pituitary and Inheritable Diseases, Surgical Neurology Branch (SNB). The Oncology unit primary cilium as a site of integration of key signaling pathways important in both development and disease. Primary cilia are microtubule-based organelles that project from the cell surface in a dynamic fashion and receive and process molecular and mechanical signaling cues. They are ubiquitous having been found on essentially all human cell types. And while as the Pituitary and Inheritable Diseases is translational research to address challenging clinical problems. Using precious surgical tissues, my group performs transcriptomic, epigenomic and functional mapping of central nervous system tumors. A detailed map of the transcriptome and epigenome in pituitary and inheritable tumors is generating hypotheses and is improving our understanding of underlying pathogenic mechanisms.
