Single-Sole Source Determination
The requested items are sequencing kits. They are a sole source purchase. The kits are meant for Illumina
sequencers. All NGS sequencing platforms have proprietary chemistry and kits and are not compatible
across platforms. Furthermore, this is purchased for an ongoing research project where an experiment is
being replicated. To maintain consistency and compatability we need to use the same reagents as the first
replicate.
These kits are cheaper than other NGS kits and cheaper than outsourcing the sequencing.
Background/Description of Requirement

These are needed to verify virus genomes that are captured using an in-house device.  Subjects that present with new neurologic findings are often suspected of having a viral infection in the cerebrospinal fluid.  Current technologies are often unable to identify virus in CSF.  The lab has a novel carbon nanotube (VIRRION) for the purpose of capturing virus in the chip.  Raman spectroscopy is performed on the VIRRION chip to obtain a signature of the captured virus.  The reagents in this purchase are used for sequencing the virus, or suspected virus, captured on the chip.  This will allow for the identifcation of the Ramaan spectral signature.  The reagents in this purchase are required to complete this study.

Interested parties may identify in writing their interest and capability in response to this requirement.
