Furthermore, if another software were purchased from a different vendor, there would be a disruption of service across NINDS as existing software would need to be uninstalled and new software installed. Staff would also need to be retrained and data compiled with the existing software would be unusable.
Continuation of these software licenses allows uninterrupted access to Prism, an essential service to the scientists who rely on it to perform their research. Any interruption of this service would have a detrimental effect on the work of all of the research staff that uses it on a daily basis. For these reasons, this requirement is restricted to GraphPad Prism 8 brand-name licenses.
The purpose of this acquisition is to procure a subscription renewal of 600 licenses for GraphPad Prism 8 software so that researchers for the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) in main campus buildings 10 and 35 can continue to use biostatistics to analyze their biological experimental data. This renewal will allow anyone with an @ninds.nih.gov e-mail address to download the latest version of Prism.
It will also allow NINDS researchers to convert raw data to a graph (or layout) ready for presentations, posters or publications, send completed graphs or layouts to PowerPoint or Word, and export to TIFF, EPS, JPG, or PDF file formats, which will ensure that all reports satisfy the submission requirements for scientific journals.
