Rationale/ Salient Characteristics
The controlling unit of the 4D-Nucleofector System is suited to handle various functional units for efficient transfection of hard-to-transfect cell lines and primary cells in different formats. The 4D-Nucleofector X Unit is one of the four functional modules of the 4D-Nucleofector System. It supports Nucleofection of various cell numbers (2 x 104 to 2 x 107) cells in different formats.
Background/Description of Requirement

NINDS researchers would like to acquire the following items: 4D Nucleofector Core Unit and 4-D nucleofector x UnitFL1

This device is needed to introduce DNA into cells that are difficult to transfect through traditional means. Such cells include neurons and glia, which are post-mitotic and have low transfection efficiency using traditional methods. Use of this device is industry-standard in transfecting cells. The need to introduce DNA into cells is vital to be able to study the function of proteins in cells. The objective is to introduce DNA into cells and then observe the impact of the protein that is produced.
