Single-Sole Source Determination
The essential characteristics of the B65 A/P coil that limit the availability to a sole source are that the coil is required to be compatible with a MagVenture MagPro X100 stimulation device and TMS Cobot, have a fluid cooling system required to be compatible with a MagVenture MagProX100 cooling device, and must have identical physical and electrical properties as a MagVenture B65 cool A/P coil, to ensure continuity of stimulation in our ongoing protocols. Only this suggested source can furnish the requirements, to the exclusion of other sources, because the material or service must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with existing systems presently installed. The current equipment is a MagVenture MagPro X100, and the new items must connect and interface with the existing system by the connection of coils to the device, by connecting their cooling systems with the MagVenture cooling device, and by interfacing their thermal and safety sensors with the MagVenture device software. The new items are a "direct replacement" component for existing equipment.
Background/Description of Requirement

The MagVenture Cool Coil B65 A/P is a part of the Noninvasive Neuromodulation Unit’s (NNU’s) system for delivering noninvasive magnetic brain stimulation to research participants, and as such play an essential role in all of the NNU’s research protocols. The purpose of our research is to advance the development of more efficacious therapies using non-invasive brain stimulation in psychiatric illness, especially major depression.
