Additional Information

The meeting will consist of a  virtual general meeting room and three virtual meeting rooms..  The General Meeting and each of the three breakout groups have unique Zoom meeting rooms.  Thus, anyone should be able to go between the different breakouts without making a request to a moderator. The breakouts are:

  • Algorithms to Derive Opioid Use from Electronic Medical Records (EMR) (Breakout Group 1)
  • Genetics and Biomarkers for SUD and Psych Diagnosis Workgroup (Breakout Group 2)
  • Hackathon:  Model organism genetics systems integration (Breakout Group 3)

It should be possible to have sidebars in each of the breakout room upon request to the moderator.

Draft Agenda NIDA Genetics Consortium Working Virtual Meeting, July 9-10, 2020

July 9, 2020

11:00 am:  Welcome - Jonathan Pollock

11:05:  Presentation by Keri Donaldson, Identifying sub-populations within OUD cohorts

11:30:  Counterpoint by Psychiatric Genomics Consortium's Substance Use Disorders Group PIs and analyst team

11:55:  Discussion

12:15: Breakouts Begin (See Agenda for each of the Breakout Groups)

  • Algorithms to Derive Opioid Use from Electronic Medical Records (EMR) (Breakout Group 1)
Purpose of this working group is to develop consensus on best algorithms and phenotypes to ascertain dependence, opioid use disorder, and other sequela of opioid use such as analgesia and respiratory depression.
Breakout group 1 Membership:  Edward Melnick, David Samuels, Dan Jacobson, Helene Choquet, Eric Johnson, Sandra Sanchez-Roige, Avi Maayan, Susan Calcaterra, Nancy Cox, Chad Brummett, Marti Head, Vanessa Troiani, Wade Berrettini, Eran Halperin, Joseph Schwab,  Yan Liu, Susan Wright, Roger Little, Maxine Cannesson, Siamak Rahman, Lori Schirle, Henry Kranzler, and Rob Rowley.
  • Genetics and Biomarkers for SUD and Psych Diagnosis Workgroup (Breakout Group 2)
The overarching goal of this working group is to identify what is needed to move the field of psychiatry forward with the integration genomics.  There are many examples in other areas of medicine where genomics has become an integral part of diagnosis and treatment.  Given an aspirational goal of moving psychiatry forward with genomics, what are the milestones that will need to be accomplished to achieve this effort?
Breakout group 2 Membership: Howard Edenberg, Marc Schuckit, Arpana Agrawal, Joel Gelernter, Alan Budney, Patrick Sullivan, Li Shiun Chen, Rohan Palmer, Laura Bierut, Thorgeir Thorgeirsson
  • Hackathon:  Model organism genetics systems integration (Breakout Group 3)
Objective: Define interactions among GeneNetwork, Phenome Database, OPAR and GeneWeaver toward integration of data from animal models genetics projects and centers. Other software may be relevant and ripe for integration, but we will start with a small set of tools and establish the requirements for priority interoperation to support defined use cases. We will establish and harmonize our timeline for development and identify resource gaps, if any, to ensure all work can be completed. As we successfully complete our initial goals we will extend our working group to include other data resources and tools.
Breakout group 3 Membership:  Rob Williams, Pjotr Prins, Saunak Sen, Laura Saba, Apurva Chitre, Molly Bogue, Robyn Ball, Dave Walton, Vivek Phillip, Erich Baker, Timothy Reynolds, Alex Berger, Amy Lossie

6:00 pm:  All groups adjourn until the next day

3:15:  Presentation by Breakout Group 1: Algorithms to Derive Opioid Use from Electronic Medical Records (EMR) (Breakout Group 1)

3:30: Discussion
