The Strong African American Families Program (SAAF), developed by Dr. Gene Brody and his team at the University of Georgia, is a prevention program targeted at 10- to 14-year-old rural African American youths and their families. Numerous studies have shown that the program can improve supportive parenting practices as well as reduce the adolescents’ high-risk behaviors, conduct problems, health risks, and risk of continued poverty.
