Civil Service Employees (Title 5) Vacancies

The majority of NIH employees are appointed under Title 5, which includes pay plans such as General Schedule (GS), Wage Grade (WG), and Senior Executive Service (SES). In order to meet the hiring deadlines established by the 2010 hiring reform, the standard posting timeframe for Title 5 vacancies will be 5 days on USAJobs.gov.

Scientists and Clinicians (Title 42) Vacancies

Title 42 is the term commonly used at NIH to reference one of the appointing authorities used by The Office Human Resources. Title 42 is a flexible hiring mechanism that allows NIH to attract and retain staff with outstanding scientific, technical and clinical skills. It is recognized as T-42 209(g) or T-42-209(f).
