We own a Zeiss LSM 880 Axio Observer Microscope which requires frequentvisits from service technicians to ensure the unit is functioning properly and wecontinue to obtain consistent data and results for our many experiments. CarlZeiss MicroImaging is the only vendor with requisite parts, inventory, andtechnical expertise to meet our requirements. Our research requires continuoususe of this instrument and this vendor has maintained the instrument since theexpiration of it warranty in accordance with factory specification. Consequently,changing vendors could introduce to interruptions in ongoing studies. Due to thehigh cost of frequent service visits and expensive replacement parts, it is in ourbest interest to continue with our warranty.
Background/Description of Requirement

The purpose of this microscope is to analyze tissue culture cells invivo and invitro thru a multiple of immunohistochemistry techniques.

This request is to acquire maintenance renewal for an existing equipment, Confocal LSM 880 microscope.

Microscopy techniques are necessary to analyze our experimental data in our in various research projects including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease Microscopy techniques are necessary to analyze our experimental data in our in various research projects including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease.  
 
General Requirements: Independently and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall furnish all the necessary services, qualified personnel, material, equipment, and facilities, not otherwise provided by the Government as needed to perform the Statement of Work below:
 
Specific Requirements:
Service technicians will provide emergency repair service, labor, travel, and replacement parts, excluding consumable items on our Zeiss Scanning Confocal Microscope system. Contractor will provide 1 planned maintenance inspection per service period on our Zeiss Scanning Confocal Microscope system. (annually) Maintenance inspection will include upgrade of software.
 

LEVEL OF EFFORT:

Contractors field service application specialists or equivalent will spend approximately 2 hours performing annual prevenative maintenance tasks..

GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

The government will provide workspace, desktop computers and telephones for the Zeiss service technician
