The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation’s leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency whose mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability, conducting, supporting and making medical discoveries that improve people’s health and save lives. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is a translational science center that prides itself on its tremendously productive pipeline and is innovative in a number of ways. NCATS brings together a diverse range of scientists, including medicinal chemists, biologists, toxicologists, and engineers, in order to ultimately translate basic science into real products and services that help improve people’s lives. Included in this process is the development of unique small molecules as potential therapies for depression.
2R,6R-hydroxynorketamine is currently the key molecule of interest for the NIH and NCATS in a potential treatment for depression. However, in order to accurately assess levels of 2R,6R-HNK in biological samples, a stable isotope labeled reference standard is important in order to achieve precision and accuracy in the measurements. By acquiring this stable-isotope labeled compound, better accuracy and precision will be enabled and the overall accuracy in the measurements of biological levels will be increased.
1. Contractor will provide 500 mg of (2R,6R;2S,6S)-2-amino-2-(2-chlorophenyl-3,4,5,6-d4)-6-hydroxycyclohexan-1-one hydrochloride
2. Purity of the compound will exceed 95%
3. Contractor will provide analytical documentation to support the product including 1H NMR spectra
4. Contractor will provide reports on the progress of the synthesis monthly or more often as required
