Single-Sole Source Determination
It would not be possible to conduct these studies with RNAi siRNAs from a different source without complete re-optimization and custom synthesis of matching sequences. Price reasonableness is demonstrated by the discount provided by Dharmacon above the normal list pricing associated with other pricing schemes. Use of a large vendor is necessary as there are no small vendors available who can provide this needed item for our ongoing research.
Background/Description of Requirement

The Trans-NIH RNAi initiative conducts high-throughput siRNA screens in collaboration with intramural investigators. siRNAs down- regulate target genes possessing corresponding sequence complementarity. In this way, we can interrogate a specific gene’s function in the context of any biology we can assay. The initiative’s work encompasses assay development, screening, and initial follow-up. In order to execute the initial follow-up, custom RNAi siRNA plates must be ordered. These plates contain RNAi siRNA’s that have shown biologically relevant hits determined from previous screens.
