Background/Description of Requirement

The Translational Neuroradiology Section (TNS) of the National Institute of Neurologic Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) relies heavily on the most innovative technologies to accomplish groundbreaking histological research to investigate the mechanisms behind neurologic pathologies due to multiple sclerosis (MS). One of those technologies includes the most state-of-the-art cryostats, the Leica CM1950. This cryostat is responsible for preserving delicate tissue samples, utilizing rapid freezing techniques to allow researchers to study the cellular structure and enables specialized techniques, such as cryo-electron microscopy. Overall, cryostats are integral to advancing research, so it’s also integral that function properly.
