Single-Sole Source Determination
EPC-10 Patch Clamp Amplifier is sole amplifier to provide the function of the membrane capacitance measurement in studying vesicle transmission. Currently, we have 6 EPC-10 Patch Clamp Amplifiers in our lab. So, we will order a new EPC-10 amplifier from the same company, Harvard Apparatus. It will make our use and maintenance more convenient.
Background/Description of Requirement

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation’s leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency conducting and supporting medical discoveries that improve people’s health and save lives. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the brain and nervous system and to use that knowledge to reduce the burden of neurological disease.

An EPC-10 amplifier, a basic electrophysiological experiment, has been used to catch the tiny electronic signals induced by vesicle transmission. We will combine the new EPC-10 amplifier with a new imaging system to study the vesicle transmission at a single vesicle level, which will significantly benefit our studies.
