Single-Sole Source Determination
The Cell Biology and Biophysics Unit (CBBU) within the National Institute of Health (NIH) uses a AKTA chromatography systems for purification of cytoskeletal proteins for ongoing scientific projects. The AKTA Pure 25 systems (three units) require preventative maintenance service after the laboratory flood and remediation. The service can be performed only by GLOBAL LIFE SCIENCES SOLUTIONS USA LLC / CYTIVA. The AKTA Pure 25 are a complex piece of equipment that requires specialized knowledge and expertise to operate and maintain. Cytiva technicians are trained to identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise during operation, ensuring that the system runs efficiently and effectively. Cytiva technicians are familiar with the unique features and specifications of the AKTA Pure 25 system, as well as the various components and accessories that can be used with it. This allows them to diagnose and repair issues more quickly and accurately. Cytiva offers comprehensive service contracts that include regular preventative maintenance, calibration, and repairs, as well as access to technical support and replacement parts.
Background/Description of Requirement

CBBU/NINDS/NIH requests preventive maintenance service of AKTA Pure 25 M1 liquid chromatography systems. AKTAs are used for proteins purifications procedures, and due to laboratory flood  and powering down for remediation work they require Preventive Maintenance and fullcare coverage to prevent breakdowns.

Background and Objectives:

The CBBU uses the AKTA systems to purify the cytoskeletal proteins and its regulatory partners for multiple ongoing scientific projects. AKTA Pure 25 system were turn off, disconnected, and stored at non-cooled cabinet for multiple weeks during post flood remediation work.  AKTAs require calibration, and maintenance of pumps, valves and tubing. The laboratory used the system for purification of proteins for over five years and has optimized purification protocols. The maintenance  of AKTAs Pure 25 is necessary for continuity of  laboratory research.

The AKTA Pure 25 chromatography systems require preventive maintenance and checking of  pumps, valves, tubing connections and seals.

Certified field technician will perform all the required services and provide report.

Full care includes:

  • Labor, travel and parts with unlimited breakdown calls
  • One scheduled Preventive Maintenance visit
  • Full system diagnostics using Cytiva software
  • Critical parts exchange to keep instrument in optimal working condition

Government Responsibilities:

Government will provide Contractor personnel reasonable access to the equipment for the required services and repairs. Government will cooperate with Contractor personnel so that Service can be performed efficiently and without interruption. Contractor shall be allowed use of Government equipment which Contractor personnel deem necessary to perform the Services.

Interested parties may identify in writing their interest and capability in response to this requirement. Responses to this notice shall contain sufficient information to establish the interested parties’ bona-fide capabilities for fulfilling the requirement and include: unit price, list price, shipping and handling costs, the delivery period after contract award, the prompt payment discount terms, the F.O.B. Point (Destination or Origin), the Dun & Bradstreet Number (DUNS), the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), and the certification of business size. All offerors must have an active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) www.sam.gov.

All responses must be received by closing date and must reference the announcement. Responses may be submitted electronically to the attention of the contract specialist. Fax responses will not be accepted.
