GENERAL INFORMATION

Title of Project:

Leica Aperio Versa 8 Equipment Service and Maintenance

 

Statement of Need and Purpose:

The investigators have been making use of multiplex immunohistochemistry and RNA in-situ hybridization for characterization of complex characterization of the immune microenvironment of high-grade brain tumors. Dr Nduom’s specific requirements of segmentation of images for quantification of expression of RNA molecules and multiplexed proteins in the immune microenvironment. The Aperio 8 Versa Brightfield, Fluorescence & FISH Digital Pathology Scanner was purchased for analysis of patient tumor cells and there is a need to set up a maintenance contract for this equipment.

 

Background Information and Objective:

The NINDS is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), conducting research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of neurological disorders and stroke. The NINDS mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the brain and nervous system and to use that knowledge to reduce the burden of neurological disease. The SNB studies primary brain tumors, pituitary tumors, syringomyelia, drug delivery to the central nervous system, development of surgical technology/techniques, cell death in neurologic disorders and functional neurosurgery. SNB provides diagnostic services for the Clinical Center to support and evaluate on-going medical care and research activities.

Dr Nduom’s group’s investigators have been making use of multiplex immunohistochemistry and RNA in-situ hybridization for characterization of complex characterization of the immune microenvironment of high-grade brain tumors. specific requirements of segmentation of images for quantification of expression of RNA molecules and multiplexed proteins in the immune microenvironment. The Leica Aperio Versa is the equipment used for this purpose with serial number 500233 and equipment number 12768831.

 

Period of Performance:

08/01/2023 to 7/31/2024 Base Year only.

 

SCOPE OF WORK

General Requirements:

Independently and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall furnish all the necessary services, qualified personnel, material, equipment, and facilities, not otherwise provided by the Government as needed to perform the Statement of Work below:

 

Specific Requirements:

Emergency repair service as required during the hours of 08:00am - 05:00pm, Monday through Friday during business hours. 

Labor, travel and replacement parts, as required, excluding consumable items.

One planned maintenance inspection per period within period of performance.

 

LEVEL OF EFFORT:

Technician to travel to the location of the equipment on CTPSR Core, Emory Clinic B, 1365 Clifton Road NE, Suite 3206, Atlanta, GA  30322 to maintain the equipment. 

 

GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Contact vendor for routine maintenance once per period, and for any other repairs as needed.  Allow the technician onto the Emory campus, and into the location where the equipment is kept.

Preventive maintenance as described under specific requirements in this Statement of Work

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Travel:

Service personnel’s travel is included in the contract.

 

Key Personnel:

The Contractor will be responsible for ensuring that the personnel assigned for service have the technical competence required to complete the service within a reasonable time and maintain the equipment at peak factory performance. Service personnel must be certified by the Original Equipment Manufacturer, Leica Biosciences.

Section 508—Electronic and Information Technology Standards:

The contractor shall comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. § 794d), as amended by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (P.L. 105-220), August 7, 1998.  All tasks for testing of functional and/or technical requirements must include specific testing for Section 508 compliance, and must use NIH approved testing methods and tools.
