Rationale/ Salient Characteristics
Research in the Neurophysiology Imaging Facility (NIF) centers on cutting edge functional imaging in awake monkeys for a broad range of investigators. Scanning in the facility involves the use of a 4.7T Bruker Biospin vertically oriented scanner, specialized for monkeys seated upright. The scanner, after more than 20 years of service, has reached end of life. It is cost prohibitive to upgrade. Before surplus, the magnetic field needs to be removed. Because of the need for special custom charging rods to ramp down the magnetic field, and unique experience of the vertically oriented bore, the facility is requesting a Run Down and Warm Up service for the 4.7T Bruker Biospin.
Independently and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall furnish all the necessary services, qualified personnel, material, equipment, and facilities, not otherwise provided by the Government as needed to perform.
