The fMRI Core Facility wishes to purchase two additional EEG nets for our
existing MagStim-EGI EEG system that is fMRI compatible. The Nets are
manufactured exclusively by the MagStim-EGI company and are the only
electrode nets that are compatible with our existing hardware (purchased 2017).
They are essential for continued data collection on several projects taking place
within the NIMH IRP. These systems are unique in their ability to simultaneously
collect 256 electrodes worth of EEG data while not requiring abrasion of the
scalp. They are also fMRI compatible.

Single-Sole Source Determination
The 256 Channel Saline HCGSN MR EEG electrode nets listed
herein is available from only one source, and competition is precluded for the reasons
indicated below. There are no substitutes available.
This acquisition is restricted to MagStim-EGI, 1626 Terrace Drive, Roseville, MN 55113,
USA, 541.687.7962
Background/Description of Requirement

The essential characteristics of the 256 Channel Saline HCGSN MR EEG NETS that
limit the availability to a sole source are Compatibility with existing EGI EEG amplifiers
(large purchase, 2017), MRI-compatible, no abrasion required for data collection, 256
electrodes. Only this suggested source can furnish the requirements, to the exclusion of
other sources, because single manufacturer.
The material or service must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with
existing systems presently installed. The current equipment is MagStim-EGI MRCompatible
EEG System (GES 400) 256, and the new item/service must coordinate,
connect, or interface with the existing system by pin connector compatible with MagStim-
EGI amplifiers with 256 channels
The new items are "direct replacement" parts / components for existing equipment

Simultaneous EEG-fMRI allows researchers to collect complimentary bio-signals from the human brain. This process uses MR-compatible EEG sensors placed on the head prior to inserting the participant into an MRI scanner. These EEG sensors are specifically made to be conditional/compatible with the MRI environment. In this request we specifically wish to purchase two more nets (with 3 years total warranty) from EGI, the manufacturer of our EEG amplifiers. These nets are the only nets that are compatible with our existing equipment and also allow the continuation of mulitple studies already in process.
