TMS-compatible EEG recording caps are a part of a instrumentation system needed to support the protocols entitled: “Neuropharmacologic Imaging and Biomarker Assessments of Response to Acute and Repeated-Dosed Ketamine Infusions in Major Depressive Disorder” (17-M-0060), and “Development of Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation Techniques” (18-M-0015), both of which have been reviewed and approved by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) committee for the Scientific Review of Protocols (CSRP) and the National Institute of Health (NIH) Institutional Review Board (IRB). The TMS-compatible EEG system provides outcome measures necessary to these two protocols: EEG concurrently measured while TMS pulses modulate brain networks allows the changes produced by brain stimulation to be observed with millisecond resolution. As such, working in tandem with TMS, the TMS-compatible EEG system provides primary outcome measures for the substudies that make up protocol 18-M-0015, and allows for discovery of specific biomarkers for the antidepressant action of ketamine in protocol 17-M-0060.
ActiCAP SlimCap - 64Ch (plus GND) for actiCHamp Plus, with actiCAP slim electrodes embedded in the cap fabric; terminated in low-profile splitter box with ribbon cable; Oval, Subinion; HP, White; Montage: ASP-64.pdf, Sizes: 54cm, 56cm and 58cm.
Single-Sole Source Determination
The essential characteristics of the TMS-compatible EEG caps with active-electrode that limit the availability to a sole source are the uniquely and extremely flat profile of the active slim electrodes, that allows to stimulate at lower thresholds. The LEDs built in the active slim electrodes provide you with a quick visual check during impedance measurement, and reduces the preparation-time of the participant. The reinforced electrode cables are easily moveable for a better routing of the TMS-coil, with the result of shorter recover times after the TMS stimulation. Only this suggested source can furnish the requirements, to the exclusion of other sources, because no other vendor provides low profile active electrodes with LEDs for visual feedback during impedance measurement, that can be used for EGG recordings during simultaneous TMS application.
Background/Description of Requirement
The mission of the NIMH Noninvasive Neuromodulation Unit is to promote the development and refinement of new and existing non-invasive neuromodulation technologies with the goal of furthering the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), magnetic seizure therapy (MST), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), deep brain stimulation (DBS).
