Call for Plenary Session Proposals
Deadline: October 31, 2024
The NIDA International Program welcomes plenary session proposals for the 2025 NIDA International Forum Agenda.
General Guidelines
- The NIDA International Program invites plenary session submissions that align with/are guided by NIDA’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.
- The Forum is an in-person meeting only. All presenters must be available to attend and participate in person. This meeting will not have a virtual component, and recorded presentations will not be accepted. Session chairs should ensure that all presenters in their session are committed to the in-person participation requirement.
- Travel awards for presenters are limited and we cannot guarantee the availability of financial support for accepted plenary session proposals.
- Proposals require an abstract of no more than 400 words.
- Sessions may be 60 or 90 minutes in length, inclusive of a Q&A period.
- The maximum number of presenters in each session is:
- 60 minutes — three presenters
- 90 minutes — four presenters, one moderator
- Once a session is accepted, changes to the presenters must be approved by the NIDA International Program.
- Selection decisions will be announced via email to the submitting chair/organizer by December 2024.
Submit your Proposal for a 2025 Plenary Session.
The deadline for proposals is October 31, 2024, 11:59 p.m. ET, U.S.
If you have any questions about the meeting or the call for plenary session proposals, please email ip@nida.nih.gov.

The nearest international airport is the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY).
Traveling to the United States
Most foreign nationals traveling to the United States need to obtain a visa unless they qualify for entry under the Visa Waiver Program. A tool to help you determine your need for a visa is the U.S. Department of State Visa Wizard available at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/wizard.html. The results of the visa wizard do not guarantee eligibility for a visa. The consular officer at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you apply will determine your visa eligibility.
You should be certain of your eligibility for a visa BEFORE you book your travel.
Additional tools on the website will help you determine which visa to apply for, complete an online application, and discover how long you will have to wait for an in-person interview.
Learn about the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) by viewing the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol website.
Letters of Invitation
It is common for individuals intending to participate in the NIDA International Forum to request a letter of invitation to support the individual’s application for a visa to enter the United States to attend the Forum. For the 2025 NIDA International Forum, requests will only be accepted from select individuals. Further information about this process will be provided in early 2025.
