Among young people in 2021:
- An estimated 9.4% of 8th graders and 15.7% of 10th graders, and 24.6% of 12th graders reported any nicotine use in the past 30 days.
- An estimated 1.1% of 8th graders, 1.8% of 10th graders, and 4.1% of 12th graders reported any cigarette use in the past 30 days.
- An estimated 7.6% of 8th graders, 13.1% of 10th graders, and 19.6% of 12th graders reported vaping nicotine in the past 30 days.
How many people have a nicotine dependence?
- Among people aged 12 or older in 2020, 8.5% (or about 23.6 million people) had nicotine dependence in the past 30 days.
